Hello, this is a lesson in flower painting.

Lesson1 Watercolor Cia Price

I'm posting the links on this page to make it easier.

Our Resource Picture I took this picture myself, so no problems there about using it. Big version.

This is the smaller version for those who need it.

Here is how to do a homemade light box!

And here is my contour drawing from the window.

Refined Contoured Drawing, looking at the screen with the pic on it.

My brushes

Palette Pic Number 2

Picture on computer screen, not a very good pic.

Go here to see my pictures and some (sorry) movies.

MORE TO COME!

Progress Report!!!!! I have two that are in progress, and one that is finished.

Here's Cathy's!

This lesson taught me how to drop colors into
wet this is so cool!

Here's Dawnel's!

I have started a magnolia painting, using Cecilia's lesson. Attached is
where I got to today.

I printed out the photo, and some small images of the process to take
along to art class; I had already printed out the contour and traced
it. That was kinda' fun.

So as far as following along exactly as shown, that is not the case, I
was sort of winging it. It felt a bit like painting by number; I think
I have not blended sufficiently. I wonder if I am being bold or have I
covered too much up - not leaving enough whites - on the flowers. They
don't look like they wil read as white flowers....

And here is Susan's lovely finished one.

Well, I participated in Cia's magnolia demo/challenge. Mine is not like hers, but I will blame that on not being a southern lady who understands magnolias. Here on the desert we don't have such delicate blossoms! Actually, this was fun to do and I tend to approach florals with a wet-in-wet, dropping-in-color technique anyway so it wasn't such a departure from my normal way of painting. I tend to not use as many colors in one blossom and that works for me but I so love seeing Cia's vivid colors in her florals. One thing I like about this painting is that I didn't obliterate all the whites right away, and enough survived the glazes to show up as sun spots.
